Great day one at summer limno. Benthic Macroinvertebrates in the morning, some practice, then a hike at Hartwick Pines with the naturalist. Key terms - SELF PRUNING, DUFF BAD, FIRE GOOD, PINE MARTEN, LUMBERJACK, GLACIAL ERRATIC, ACID SOIL, HEMLOCK BARK, OLD GROWTH. Then later we hit the Manistee River and found stonefly, caddisfly, dragonfly, hellgrammites, and a RIVER LAMPREY. According to the data we collected the Manistee is in GREAT shape, excellent fish habitat and little sand noted. Pics of the day below.
